September Update

Christmas is fast approaching and we are teaming up with the City Mission and other city partners to launch Christmas in the City. We are working on a series of activations throughout the City Centre and encourage you all to take part in whatever capacity you can. 

Christmas

For the first time Santa will be Punting down the Avon River from the Margaret Mahey playground right to the steps of The Terrace. 

We will have a number of Elves that will be roaming throughout the event and this is a chance for you to sponsor an Elf to promote your business or your business area. Contact me if this is of interest to you. 

There will be Face Painting for the children, choirs, brass bands and street performers to support the launch of Christmas in the City and the City Mission Christmas tree, which will be located at the Bridge of Remembrance end of City Mall. This is a substantial tree standing about 10 meters high and will be absolutely stunning and certainly will attract visitors to come in to see it. 

There will also be a 12 days of Christmas and there are going to be some awesome give-aways, but we would welcome any additional support from you or your business area. If you want to take part by donating some giveaways please drop me a line.

What's Coming Up

CCBA AGM & Calling for Nominations

Date: Tuesday October 27th 
Time: 5.30 - 7pm
Venue: Turanga

At the AGM we will be seeking a special resolution to support maintaining continuity within the CCBA board. This requires the support of two-thirds or more of members present at the AGM. 

Want to joint the board? Then get yourself nominated. 

Full Members are eligible to run for the positions of Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary. Both Full and Associate Members are eligible to run for the remaining positions on the Executive Committee.

Nominations for the positions of Chairperson, Treasurer or Secretary need to seconded by two Full Members, and for the other positions on the Executive Committee, by two Full or Associate Members.

Nominations need to be lodged with the Association no less than 10 days prior to the AGM.

Now we are in Alert Level 1 ChristchurchNZ are ready to launch their spring campaign BLOOM. They would love you and your business to be a part of the fun and vibrant atmosphere our season of events will bring to Ōtautahi Christchurch.

There is a free Helpline to provide all businesses in Aotearoa New Zealand with advice and to connect them with additional support to help them to operate in the COVID-19 environment. In the South Island, this number is: 0800 50 50 96 

This Helpline can offer:
  • Specific advice on how to access Government-funded business support
  • Advice on what changes in Alert Levels may mean for your business
  • General business advice and access to online resources
  • Connections to business advisory services 
This phone number will be answered by a Canterbury Employers’ Chamber of Commerce Response Team advisor who will be able to either provide initial advice, guidance and support or, if the issue is more complex, provide a referral to a relevant expert.
